I really under estimated what it would take for me to get ahead, behind the scenes, I am so busy its honestly pushing me beyond the limits of burning out, I've worked out I need to get 6 weeks ahead of my releases with edited episodes, I want to get to a point that I am releasing between 1 to 2 full length videos a week, with how my home & work life is, I have 14 days to film my ants and get the footage, 14 days to edit & audio record, this seems to work the best with the chaos of having two young children in the mix, at work I have my office and the quiet time to record audio & edit the footage I have captured, I'm currently working on & editing a few episodes.
My plan to release a generic update on my colonies went to pot, because the Camponotus Nicobarensis decided to chew their way out of their long time old faithful Chinese manufactured acrylic nest, taking advantage of the slits in the acrylic which encases the sponge for their hydration, using the hydration chamber as their escape tunnel, Saved by Antopia, I am currently waiting for them to move into their new home.....
Then the Carebara managed to chew through another section of their pod, unfortunately once they worked out they could escape from it, that is what they have concentrated the colonies efforts on, they number in the thousands, lots of tiny teeth scraping away, makes short work of a glue weld, BUT all was not lost! AntBoyUK got me out the V.2 design for small sp, if you remember my pods were designed to house Polyrhachis, they are too large to chew their way out of the tiny crevices. I wont spoil too much as the Carebara episode is next in line for release.
What started as an update ended up becoming two full episodes with a slight cross over on an episode, I have been filming, as you can imagine, it threw a spanner into schedule.
I decided to fastball a live this weekend with Ants Hood which was last night as I am writing this blog post, unfortunately just afterwards, I ended up getting a really bad migraine, some of the worst visual impairment I've had in a while, I just had to take some sumatriptan and disappear, which meant unfortunately I missed out on the first episode of the Ant Quest with Formicast, sad times, I've been so excited about this episode so I'm really gutted to have missed it.
